Stop the Destruction
3 Million Dollar Cowichan Estuary Restoration Project decided behind closed doors. Here’s why we need to stop it:
Save our Land
Residents, tourists, farmers and wildlife all use this land. Why would we accept obliterating it? That’s the point- WE didn’t.
Preserve Farming Heritage
The project poses a threat to our agricultural legacy by endangering fertile land and local food sources.
Protect Wildlife Habitat
Say NO to a project that could disrupt the natural habitats of migrating birds, threatening their survival.
Respect Indigenous Rights
We must prevent potential flooding of Indigenous Reserves and housing, respecting the rights of Indigenous communities.
Safeguard Tourism
Stand with us to preserve a beloved local tourist destination from being ruined by reckless development.
Boost Local Economy
By rejecting this project, we guarantee a consistent stream of tourist income that sustains our community's well-being.
Cowichan Valley Regional District Committee Meeting
Volunteers from Land Keepers and concerned citizens voiced their concerns during the CVRD committee meeting, highlighting the risks to agriculture, food security, and the environment. The issue of inadequate transparency and community consultation was also raised. The potential flooding of the estuary poses a significant threat to all.
